Wait, what??? The Genmitsu 4040 Pro Max GRBL 1.1 controller doesn’t support a 4th axis?!? How can that be? SainSmart sold it to me clearly stating it’s for the 4040 Pro Max. Well turns out that one must do a lot of special tricks to use the rotary table. Yes, GRBL 1.1 only supports 3 axes so one must trick it into thinking the rotary table is one of the XYZ axes. After much effort, I determined it’s pretty much impossible to use the rotary table for my use case with the factory controller. So there’s that Black Hole showing back up as I started research for a replacement controller that will support at least 4 axes. Turns out that’s not so easy….surprise, surprise. After many hours of research I realized a controller update wasn’t going to happen quickly so I continued on with refining the process of making aluminum parts while still researching.
